August was nothing short of amazing here at Victor Hugo Deli as we embraced the energy of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Our cafe transformed into a creative hub, filled with art, laughter, and the warmth of community. We hosted a wide range of events—more than we can count! From candle painting and jewellery making to open mic nights and still life drawing, our space was alive with the talents and passions of so many incredible people.
We’re proud to have offered a platform to local businesses, artists, and makers, and we’re grateful to everyone who came through our doors to share their creativity and make memories with us. Our goal is simple: to be a welcoming space where people feel safe to be themselves, try something new, and most importantly, have fun. And August certainly lived up to that vision.
A Glimpse at Some of Our Fringe Events
We kicked off the month with a series of creative workshops, starting with candle painting. People loved crafting their own unique candles, adding personal touches to each one and creating something truly special. It was the perfect way to unwind and let creativity flow, setting a relaxed and fun tone for the rest of the month.
Jewellery making sessions followed, where participants designed beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces with the guidance of talented local artisans. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm and joy as people experimented with their designs, creating wearable art to take home as a reminder of their Fringe experience.
One of our most electric nights was the open mic night, where musicians, poets, and storytellers took the stage to share their talents. The room was buzzing with energy as performers, both seasoned and new, captivated the audience. It was an unforgettable evening of community, creativity, and connection.
Supporting Local and Building Community
A huge part of our mission is to support small, local businesses, and August was a great opportunity to do just that. We’re proud to have partnered with so many talented artisans and creatives throughout the month, giving them a space to showcase their work and connect with the community.
We believe in the power of local, and it was incredible to see how much talent our city holds. We’re so glad we could share that with all of you.
